October 1977 ~

The Cornell College homecoming parade, celebrating Cornell’s 125th year.

It was an interesting parade because there were so few spectators.  Look at the margins, at the side of the road.  No one.

Funny that the purpose of this parade was moving people across a road, rather than entertaining people along the parade route.

The people who are moving across the street affiliate as a social organization.  The sororities marched together.  The fraternities were having fun elsewhere.

They were celebrating as performance, recreating the festival as it was done in times past.

Clearly they are having fun.

What if they gave a parade and no one came?
